چکیده

This experiment was determined the effect of weaning time on growth performance, rumen fermentation, and microbial bacterial community of lambs. Forty eight Hu lambs were randomly divided into 4 treatments. Control lambs were ewereared (ER), while others were weaned at d 10, 20, or 30 after birth (EW10, EW20 and EW30) and fed milk replacer artificially until d 60. All lambs had ad libitum access to same creep feed from d 15 to 90. Results showed that average daily gain, creep feed intake, final body weight, hot carcass and rumen weight of EW10, EW20 and EW30 were greater (P < 0.05) than ER. The ammonia N concentration of EW20 and EW30 was greater (P < 0.05) than EW10 and ER. Butyric acid in EW10 and EW20 was greater (P < 0.05) than EW30 and ER. The richness and biodiversity of bacterial communities had no difference (P > 0.05). The predominated rumen bacterial composition in phyla level had no difference, but the minor phyla present, Proteobacteria, had difference. These results demonstrated that weaning time could improve the growth performance and rumen weight and slightly affect rumen fermentation. Weaning at d 10 was recommended to farmer to maintain prior rumen development and performance in lambs.

The Effect of Iranian and Foreign Milk Substitutes on Performance, Blood Parameters, Characteristics of Internal Carcass Organs and Rumen Development of Lambs at Weaning

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: The advantages of using milk replacer include proper growth of lambs, prevention of consumption of bodily reserves of mother ewes, preparation of ewes for the next calving period, reduction of calving distance, increase of twinning and reduction of costs. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of milk replacer on Performance, blood par...

Effect of rearing system on pre-weaning growth, rumen development and its influence on post-weaning performance of lambs

Twenty-four 21-day-old Balouchi male lambs were equally divided into two groups. Twelve subjects were artificially reared (AR), twelve others were ewe reared (ER) and used as control. AR in comparison of ER lambs maintained higher concentrations of blood betaHydroxybutyric acid (BHBA); however glucose concentration was not affected by rearing system. Unlike the DNA content and cell size, the RN...

Effect of coconut oil in the post-weaning starter diet on growth and carcass qualities of male lambs, weaned early and intensively fattened in winter.

The influence of medium-chain fatty acids (5% coconut oil) introduced in a starter diet (ALc) for 21 d after weaning was investigated in 230 Lacaune male lambs. They were weaned early, intensively fattened during winter and slaughtered at a constant live-weight (39 kg). Comparisons have been made regarding the individual growth rates and carcass qualities with an isocaloric and isonitrogenous r...

Effects of Pre-Pubertal Nutrition Plan on Blood Metabolites and Some Physiological Responses in Kurdish Female Lambs at Weaning and Breeding

BACKGROUND: Pre-pubertal nutrition managements are considered essential for animal health, optimizing production and reproductive performance in livestock. OBJECTIVES: In this study, the effects of dietary low and high energy and protein provisions on body growth, blood metabolites and inherent safety index were investigated in pre-pubertal Kurdish female lambs. METHODS: We fed 40 healthy Kurdi...

Alfalfa Intervention Alters Rumen Microbial Community Development in Hu Lambs During Early Life

The pre-weaning period is crucial for rumen developmental plasticity, which can have a long-term impact on animal performance. Understanding the rumen microbiota during early life is important to elucidate its potential role in rumen development. In this study, the rumen microbiota of 10-day-old Hu lambs fed either milk replacer (B10), milk replacer and starter (STA) or milk replacer and starte...
